Dartmoor's New Planning Policies
An important new document sets out local planning policy for Dartmoor over the next 20 years and its publication in draft form starts the process of public consultation.
The document is awkardly titled Development Management and Delivery Development Plan Document (DMD) and supplements the broader policies defined in the Core Strategy document which was adopted in 2008.

It is divided into 3 parts with the initial section dealing with the background to the plan. The 2nd section contains general policies applying across the board as well as defining 3 specific policy areas.
- Environment and Heritage Policies
- Social Well-being policies
- Economic and Transport Policies
The final section of the document then defines policies for each of the settlement areas within the National Park area, identifying land allocations for housing and other development.
The document is scheduled for publication on July 1st and will be followed by a series of community consultation events (schedule for these events is available here).
The consultation period will run until Spetember 16th and the results will be incorporated into a new version of the document expected at the end of 2011.
The policies in this document will have a direct effect on development on Dartmoor for the next 20 years.
